House is finally over and the finale I think managed to sum up the entire series in one line: “No one cares about the medicine”. It’s a sad/somewhat ironic truth to house. House as the show it was really should of been stopped a while ago, in all fairness I’d say the first 7 seasons were pretty good except for the next level unbelievable mess that was season 7’s finale. I really like/d season 8’s new characters but it all felt like filler. House as a show needed to end, it’s unfortunate House as a character has to die with it.
In regards to the series as a whole the highlight of it was most assuredly season 4, despite my immense hatred of ‘cut-throat bitch’ it featured the whole survivor esque plot for the spots on the team, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Season 5 and 6 are most definitely a second spot for me. Next to house my favorite character throughout the show is Kutner. 7 is a definite third followed by 1,2 and 3. 8 is easily my least favorite season. However overall it suffered from one major flaw, House couldn’t change because if house changed it would ruin the show. After season 4 it really stopped becoming so believable. Not so much because 5 and onward were of low quality, in fact I’d argue they were stand alone the better episodes. It was just that we’d seen so much house at this point that we came to expect it.
Now the series finale, and in all honesty every episode after they knew that this was the permanent end, destroyed this preconceived notion of who House is because writing the next season no longer mattered. They could of actually changed house for once. So they went and fucked up. The season finale of house was trash, to say the least. It’s most redeeming quality was Kutner’s presence. I thought his psychiatrist’s presence from way back when did add a little to it as well. I shouldn’t really trash the finale because the build up to the end had been so poor. I really don’t know if they could of done better given the circumstances. I should add they did have some doctoral bullshit still present, which given the tone of the episode did distract from it all. I blame the network, they probably pressured the writers or the writers were just stupid. I’m gonna go ahead and blame fox here though, they have this nasty habbit of fucking up good shows *cough* Futurama *cough*
tl:dr House needed to end however it is a shame the character had to die with the show
